Your Input Needed! Higher Education NEA Virtual Budget Engagement – Wednesday, January 31, 2024, 6:00pm ET

  2. Visit the NEA Strategic Framework and Budget site to view video descriptions of each objective prior to the budget engagement, resulting in more time to collaborate, answer questions, and address concerns.
  3. Attending the meeting is very important. If you cannot attend, however, please provide input at NEA Strategic Framework & Budget.

NCHE AWARD NOMINATIONS OPEN - DEADLINE EXTENDED | JAMES DAVENPORT MEMORIAL AWARD

Please consider submitting nominations for NCHE’s James Davenport Memorial Award. Nominations will be accepted through 11:59pm EST, Friday, January 26, 2024. The application form may be found here.

James Davenport (1938 – 1989) was the first president of the National Council for Higher Education. A faculty member at the Washentaw Community College, Michigan, he worked tirelessly for over two decades for higher education faculty and programs within the NEA and internationally. His dedication to the higher education community and belief that all educators must work together as one family are memorialized in this award. The award will presented at the NEA Higher Education Conference in Atlanta, GA, March 14-17, 2024. The recipient will receive a plaque and an honorarium of $1,000.

NCHE Nominations and Elections:  March 14, 2023, Atlanta, GA

The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) will hold nominations and elections for eligible NCHE offices on March 14, 2023, in Atlanta, GA, during the NCHE Regular Annual Meeting held in conjunction with the NEA Higher Education Conference.

NCHE seats open for election are as follows:

  • NCHE President (3-year term)
  • NCHE Vice President (3-year term)
  • NCHE At-Large Member (3-year term) 

Per NCHE Policies and Procedures:

  • Potential candidates for NCHE office will be permitted one candidate statement each to be posted on the NCHE website.  The statement shall consist of a maximum of one side of one letter size page with no links to other information.  NEA staff will post the statement as soon as practicable after transmittal by the Elections, Endorsements, and Credentials Committee chair, who will vet each statement. Statements should be submitted by email here.
  • Candidates for NCHE office must be nominated from the floor during Session I of the Regular Annual Meeting.
  • Candidates for NCHE office will have three (3) minutes to address the Council during Session I of the Regular Annual Meeting.
  • Voting:
    • Elections, Endorsements, and Credentials Committee shall prepare voting credentials, consisting of the ballots for all organizational and individual member categories.
    • It shall be the responsibility of the Elections, Endorsements, and Credentials Committee Chair to ensure that each registered member receives the appropriate ballot.
    • Voting will begin at the close of Session I and will continue for 60 minutes.
